A short drive away is the stunning Heavenly Lake, resting amidst snow-capped peaks and dense alpine forests. Its azure waters reflect the surrounding Tianshan mountain range, creating an enchanting tableau that promises peace and serenity.

Day 2-3: Urumqi – Bayinbuluk Setting forth from Urumqi, we head to Bayinbuluk. Known for its expansive grasslands, it’s where the wind whispers stories of ancient nomads. Swathes of flowers, grazing herds, and the spectacular Swan Lake form an idyllic backdrop.

Day 4: Tashkurgan – Stone City Upon reaching Tashkurgan, we are greeted by the Stone City, a testament to the region’s rich history. Once the capital of the ancient Puli Kingdom and an integral stop on the Silk Road, its ruins narrate tales of bygone eras.

Day 5-7: Karakul Lake – Muztagh Ata Peak Our next destination is Karakul Lake, a pristine jewel cradled between lofty peaks. As we venture further, we are captivated by the majestic Muztagh Ata Peak. Standing tall at 7,509 meters, its snow-clad pinnacle and icy glaciers are the very embodiment of nature’s grandeur. The name ‘Muztagh Ata’ means ‘Ice Mountain’ in the Uighur language, a fitting moniker for this frozen titan.

Day 8: Tashkurgan – Wakhan Corridor – Panlong Ancient Road – Bandeir Blue Lake We delve into the Wakhan Corridor, historically a part of the Silk Road, which connected Chinese and Indian civilizations. Following this, we challenge the serpentine Panlong Ancient Road. This tortuous trail, replete with 639 bends, promises an adrenaline rush. Our day concludes at Bandeir Blue Lake. This lake, concealed within the Kunlun Mountains, is believed to be guarded by dragons that control the weather.

Day 9: Tashkurgan – Stone City – Kashgar The ancient Stone City of Kashgar awaits. An essential junction on the Silk Road, it stands on a hill with formidable cliffs. Its multi-layered walls and scattered boulders present a unique vista. Nearby, the Golden Grassland provides the perfect vantage point for capturing this historical site’s essence.

Day 10: Kashgar Departure With cherished memories and a camera full of breathtaking shots, we bid farewell to Xinjiang from Kashgar, marking the conclusion of a memorable expedition.
